The doctors running the study found that this practice and feedback helped the residents improve their diagnostic powers dramatically. At first the residents were relying on their own previous knowledge, and their diagnoses were hit or miss, but after twenty or so trials the effects of the regular feedback started to kick in, and the residents’ accuracy began to increase steadily. The improvement continued through all 234 cases, and from all appearances would have continued through at least several hundred more if they’d been available
